How it adds up
Which networks will take you now
Between about 10,000 and 25,000 visitors the managed networks open up. Journey and Newor Media run header bidding without a long contract; Monumetric takes sites from 10,000 pageviews, with a $99 setup fee below 80,000.
Mediavine's on-ramp for smaller sites. About 1,000 Tier-1 sessions a month gets you Mediavine's ad tech before you qualify for the main network.
Managed header bidding with no exclusivity contract, aimed at sites that have outgrown AdSense but are not yet at premium-network scale.
Managed ads from 10,000 monthly pageviews. A $99 setup fee applies below 80,000 pageviews.
Some links are referral links. They cost you nothing and may earn this site a commission.
What this calculator assumes for Google AdSense
AdSense is the starting point for nearly every website, and the floor that every other network is measured against. Approval is free, there is no traffic minimum, and once accepted you can be serving ads the same day. What it does not do is optimize for you: no header bidding, no managed placement, so RPM sits at the low end of what the same pages could earn on a premium network later.
The estimate multiplies monthly visitors by an RPM, revenue per 1,000 pageviews, that depends on your niche and your readers' countries. A mostly US, UK, Canadian, or Australian audience earns the Tier-1 figure; Western Europe and developed Asia-Pacific the Tier-2 figure; the rest of the world Tier 3. Niche multipliers run from 0.8 for gaming to 2.8 for finance, because that is roughly how advertiser budgets vary.
| Audience | Base RPM |
|---|---|
| Tier 1: US, UK, Canada, Australia | $3.50 |
| Tier 2: Western Europe, developed Asia-Pacific | $1.20 |
| Tier 3: rest of the world | $0.40 |
The base RPM is then multiplied by your niche:
| Niche | Multiplier | Tier-1 RPM after multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| General Blog | 0.9× | $3.15 |
| News / Media | 1.1× | $3.85 |
| Tech / Dev | 1.5× | $5.25 |
| Finance / Business | 2.8× | $9.80 |
| Lifestyle / Recipe | 1.0× | $3.50 |
| Gaming / Guides | 0.8× | $2.80 |
| Tool / Calculator | 1.2× | $4.20 |
| Health / Wellness | 1.3× | $4.55 |
These are blended benchmarks for a well-run site, calibrated in June 2026 against published industry reports, not the median publisher. The full method is on the methodology page.

How Google AdSense pays
- When: Earnings finalize on the 3rd of the following month and pay on or around the 21st, the same system AdMob uses.
- Minimum: $100 or the local equivalent; smaller balances roll forward.
- How: EFT in most countries, wire transfer, checks where EFT is unavailable, Western Union in some countries.
The first payment waits on identity and address verification, including a mailed PIN, and a tax form. Payout timing across the web networks, and how to receive dollars outside the US, is covered in the Wise vs Payoneer guide.
Google AdSense questions
How much does AdSense pay per 1,000 views?
Between about 40 cents and $3.50 for most sites, which is the Tier-3 to Tier-1 range in this calculator before the niche multiplier. A finance site with US readers can clear $8 to $10 per thousand; a gaming site with mostly Asian readers can sit under 50 cents. Niche and geography matter more than anything you do with ad placement.
What is a good AdSense RPM?
Above $3 with a general audience is doing well on AdSense. Above $10 usually means a high-value niche such as finance, insurance, or business software. If you are consistently above $5 with Western readers, you are probably leaving money on the table by not moving to Journey by Mediavine, Newor Media, or, at 25,000 pageviews, Raptive.
Is there a minimum traffic requirement for AdSense?
No. Approval is about content and compliance, not traffic. A site with a few hundred visitors a month can be approved, and a site with fifty thousand can be rejected. What matters is original, substantial content, complete privacy and contact pages, and a site that does not look built purely to hold ads.
What does a low value content rejection actually mean?
It is a judgment that the site as a whole does not offer enough original value for advertisers, and it is applied to entire categories of sites, calculators and tool sites included, more than to specific defects. Thin pages, scraped or generated text, and sites with no clear purpose get it; so do genuinely useful sites in categories Google treats as risky. Add depth, wait a few months, reapply, and in the meantime Media.net accepts sites AdSense does not.
Apply to AdSense, and to the alternatives
AdSense is free and has no traffic minimum. Media.net takes sites AdSense will not; Journey by Mediavine opens at about 1,000 Tier-1 sessions.
The go-to ad network for websites and blogs. Quick approval, reliable payments, and Google's full demand.
Contextual ads backed by the Yahoo and Bing advertiser pool. The standard AdSense alternative for sites with mostly US, UK and Canadian readers.
Mediavine's on-ramp for smaller sites. About 1,000 Tier-1 sessions a month gets you Mediavine's ad tech before you qualify for the main network.
