What this calculator assumes for Mediavine
Mediavine is a full-service premium ad network: header bidding across premium demand, ad placement and density tuned for you, and RPMs that commonly run two to five times AdSense on identical pages. Since 2026 the qualification is revenue rather than sessions, about $5,000 a year in ad earnings, and Journey by Mediavine takes sites from roughly 1,000 monthly sessions in the US, UK, Canada, or Australia until they get there.
The RPMs here describe a content site in a mainstream niche with engaged, mostly Western readers, the profile Mediavine is built for. Tier 1 is the US, UK, Canada, and Australia; Tier 2 is Western Europe and developed Asia-Pacific; Tier 3 is everywhere else. Niche multipliers run from 0.8 for gaming to 2.8 for finance. A recipe or lifestyle site with US readers sits near the Tier-1 figure; a site whose readers are mostly elsewhere should expect the Tier-2 or Tier-3 number, and may not clear the revenue bar.
| Audience | Base RPM |
|---|---|
| Tier 1: US, UK, Canada, Australia | $25.00 |
| Tier 2: Western Europe, developed Asia-Pacific | $9.00 |
| Tier 3: rest of the world | $2.20 |
The base RPM is then multiplied by your niche:
| Niche | Multiplier | Tier-1 RPM after multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| General Blog | 0.9× | $22.50 |
| News / Media | 1.1× | $27.50 |
| Tech / Dev | 1.5× | $37.50 |
| Finance / Business | 2.8× | $70.00 |
| Lifestyle / Recipe | 1.0× | $25.00 |
| Gaming / Guides | 0.8× | $20.00 |
| Tool / Calculator | 1.2× | $30.00 |
| Health / Wellness | 1.3× | $32.50 |
These are blended benchmarks for a well-run site, calibrated in June 2026 against published industry reports, not the median publisher. The full method is on the methodology page.

Mediavine questions
What are Mediavine's requirements in 2026?
About $5,000 a year in ad revenue, original long-form content, good standing with Google, and readers mostly in Tier-1 countries. The old 50,000-session minimum is gone. Sites below the revenue bar apply to Journey by Mediavine, which wants roughly 1,000 Tier-1 sessions a month and graduates publishers to the main network automatically when they qualify.
What RPM does Mediavine pay?
Typically $12 to $30 for a mainstream niche with US readers, and more in finance. The calculator's Tier-1 benchmark is $25 before the niche multiplier, Tier 2 is $9, Tier 3 is $2.20. Fourth-quarter RPMs run 30 to 50% above the first quarter, so judge any figure against its season.
What is Journey by Mediavine?
Mediavine's program for smaller sites: the same ad technology with lighter service, open at about 1,000 monthly sessions from the US, UK, Canada, or Australia. Journey requires Google's MCM approval, which is a publisher-policy review, and pays on the same net-65 schedule. Sites move up to the main network when they clear the revenue bar.
Mediavine or Raptive?
Both are premium. Raptive opens at 25,000 pageviews with mostly Tier-1 traffic and Mediavine on revenue, so which one you can join usually decides it. On RPM, Raptive tends to post slightly higher numbers and Mediavine tends to score better on tooling and support; publishers switch in both directions. Run both in the calculator with your numbers and read the Compare Networks tab.
